Misogyny :The tale continues…

Hey folks , this post is meant to heal my aching heart from what happened to me today .Today , while reading newspaper i came across an article that read :

Another part of a book named “Marriage and family life” is distributed to those women in Turkey who are going to get married soon , the first part was distributed in December and it is written by an ex employee of the “Religious Affairs Department” named “Hassan Caleisken” , what it says is as follows –

  • Women should dress according to his husband .
  • She should follow what her husband says.
  • If a women does not listen to her husband ,or if she do not dress as his men pleases then her husband have the right to  beat her up , and she should stay ready for it .
  • After being beaten up , a women should wear beautiful clothes and impress her husband , she should make coffee for him .
  • If your husband is angry with you , you should stay calm and ask for his forgiveness.
  • Women should not go to theaters,or watch drama because there are ghosts and spirits.
  • Women should also not visit sports center or parks.

I know you might have been outraged by now but This is not the end of this men’s wit , there are so many things i didn’t mention .

See , i am not married , neither do i live in Turkey , but it still offended me and every women on this planet …             What a misogynist this men is ???               We feel pride in saying that we belong to the digital era , where men have stepped its foot even on  Mars ,we talk about gender equalization, but i don’t think that a women might have been humiliated in such a way even in the stone age period …even then she had the right to wear whatever she liked …

There are women protesting against the book in Turkey , but how long we will have to do it , for everything we want , we have to protest ,we have to fight for years to make a change …

I never talk about feminism nor women empowerment , why do we have to ???       I mean these are our rights we are as human as the men out there .We took birth on this planet at the same time men did , then why we have to ask them for everything , god has provided us with equal rights as men , then why we have to fight for them …

I don’t say women are perfect , they are symbols of love and kindness and blah, blah, blah…But this doesn’t mean that you have the right to captivate them in their own place , deprive them from their rights .Even men are not perfect , so shall we write a book for men on “How to behave with a women “…

I think a men with such malevolent thoughts should be sentenced to death, if he can write such things than what he could have been doing to his wife or daughter ….I am afraid .                                  What message he might have been trying to give to all men’s out there ,and all in the name of religion , he should be ashamed of himself .

I am sorry if i have crossed any limits ,but i could not stop myself from writing this post .

    1. As a man that article outrages me. Even as a married man. As a husband I love and honor my wife. She is the keeper of my heart, mother of my son , but beyond that she is my equal, the best part of me. To lay a hand on her in anger is inconceivable to me, and anyone who treats a woman as a lesser creature is only showing his own cowardice and lack of worth. I’m in America, so I realize it’s a different culture but women deserve respect. Without a woman the men wouldn’t even be here…

      1. Thank-you for these words , a married man when says that it means that this is a man’s choice on how to treat his woman ,and culture well as far as I know Turkish people don’t have such strict rules against women…
If it would have been Saudi Arabia than culture might have been a reason ,but whatever the reason is , it’s sad …

    2. so youre not my only friend that is also a feminist– and i worry that the term “misogyny” will become a thought-terminating cliche if it is applied to every disagreement that men and women have… though i agree with you that this list of “ideals” (very backwards, very old-fashioned “ideals”) for women is offensive and ridiculous. im sorry that anyone still thinks that way and i will address the list further in a minute.

however, im more inclined to talk about misogyny with a feminist that admits “misandry” is also a real thing. “equality feminism” is something im fine with, while trans-exclusionary, gender feminism is just women declaring war on me. for example, i dont think creating the gender-based thought police, and making thought-crime a capital crime:

“men with such malevolent thoughts should be sentenced to death, if he can write such things”

wow! i certainly dont agree with that… i know you feel passionate about the topic, but the answer to poorly-thought-out writing is better-thought-out writing to fix it, not a death sentence. but this i agree with 100%:

“these are our rights we are as human as the men out there” <- yes absolutely. and this too:

these are our rights we are as human as the women out there <- i say this.

we really should be equal, thats the only right way. but we have laws and traditions that need to be fixed, and thats no easy thing. some laws and customs discriminate against women, and some laws and customs discriminate against men.

i dont think two wrongs help fix each other. two wrongs are just more wrong. but one-less-wrong is good. two less-wrongs is even better. so we should always try to make things less wrong.

      now the list:

"Women should dress according to his husband" — no

"She should follow what her husband says." — husbands and wives should listen to each other and try to understand and help each other, but they cant always agree.

"If a women does not listen to her husband ,or if she do not dress as his men pleases then her husband have the right to beat her up" — well now i understand why you feel so strongly about this very bad person. i still dont think he should be killed for this, but perhaps there is some kind of justice for him encouraging people to beat their wives for simple disobedience.

"and she should stay ready for it" — obviously, no one should marry this man.

"After being beaten up , a women should wear beautiful clothes and impress her husband , she should make coffee for him" — ridiculous

"If your husband is angry with you , you should stay calm and ask for his forgiveness." — maybe this is true (sometimes.) but it is just as true for the husband– if his wife is angry he should stay calm and ask her forgiveness (sometimes.)

"Women should not go to theaters,or watch drama because there are ghosts and spirits." — i did not know ghosts and spirits only went to the movies and dramas! now i know why they are so difficult to find! (but if people follow this man then going to movies wont be nearly as fun. i wont usually go to the movies myself, unless its with a woman.)

"Women should also not visit sports center or parks." — only men in parks! but then the parks will not be as beautiful.

your list-writer has no merit, and what people should do is ignore him and possibly throw old fruit at him.

if it makes you feel better, there are women that write just as terrible things about men. but it shouldnt make you feel better, because they dont make the world better. these people that hate women, and these people that hate men– they are both preaching hate and ignorance, and i dont agree in these messages for children or for society.

but that old fruit has to go somewhere, i think πŸ™‚ namaste.

      1. Actually, I’m no feminist but I won’t like hearing such kinds of things yeah I admit that death sentence statement was a bit much, but as I mentioned I was seriously outraged by reading the article, also I would like to mention that I live in a small town in India and here you get to hear so many things against women that this kind of outrage seems suitable .l hope that makes my point clear ,well misandry yup it exists but it’s very rare or I should say unusual .
